Kathy and I left Powell on Friday night, July 2, for the 4th of July weekend. Our first stop was Saint Joseph, where we saw the lighthouses on the pier, and caught them again lit up after dark.
Then we drove up into Michigan's Upper Peninsula. At Copper Peak we climbed the ski jump tower and looked down its long run. We saw a lot of waterfalls; a trail through birch forest led to Rainbow Falls, where we stopped to look at the water up close. We went on through the Porcupine Mountains toward Lake of the Clouds.
We got home to Powell on Monday night.
