Holycheese. So good. The fried cheese curds sent it over the top.
We enjoyed the botanical garden and lunch at Foodie Garage Eatery in Dubuque. My heart is full.
Logged just over 800 miles on our trip to Iowa. Chicago was a breeze. It will be a nightmare tomorrow. We got great gas mileage too. Not bad for a mini-van packed full of people, a dog and gear.
The family set out for Dubuque for Labor Day weekend, visiting Grandma over Kathy's birthday. The day took in Dubuque and the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, walking the formal gardens past mums, hibiscus and morning glories in full bloom, then through the cactus and succulent garden.

Lisa and Thomas stopped for a photo together on the garden's overlook. We crossed the wooden arched bridge over the koi pond and watched the fish crowd the water below, orange and white against the green.

For dinner we stopped at Foodie Garage Eatery downtown, where the menu ran to towering specialty burgers with names like Slaughter House and Holy Cheese. Lisa and Thomas sat together at the table, masks pulled down to eat, before we headed back for the night.
