Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, FL
Up at 1 a.m. because my intended hour-long nap at 5:00 yesterday turned into an 8-hour snooze-fest. I think this is going to be a LONG day. Napping on the plane is a must.
This has always been my favorite Disney hotel.
Thomas is now officially tall enough to ride Expedition Everest. 35 minutes until our Fast Pass time. This is where I feel the fear and do it anyway. It's the going backwards part that terrifies me.
20-hour day and I am exhausted. Alarm is set for 5:55 tomorrow morning. We have our VIP experience bright and early at 8:00. Another run and gun Rennhack vacation. It's how we roll.
We set out for Chicago Midway. We flew from Chicago Midway to Orlando, landing by midmorning, and checked into Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge before midday.

In the afternoon we went into the Animal Kingdom park itself. We stood under the Tree of Life and walked the Maharajah Jungle Trek, where we watched tigers resting in the grass and birds working through the trees. The kids and I rode Expedition Everest, arms up the whole way, and later we all rode the DINOSAUR ride in the dark.
Along the way the kids met Mickey and Minnie dressed for safari at the Adventurers Outpost, then Baloo and King Louie, and later Pluto and Goofy in DinoLand USA. Thomas spent a good stretch digging and climbing in the sand play area near the dinosaur rides.
We stayed in the park until after dark and got one more family photo under the lit-up Tree of Life before heading back to the Lodge for the night.
