Mammee Bay, Jamaica
Riu Ocho Rios, here we come! What, no Disney cruise? Weird, right?
Wheels up.
A simply gorgeous day to fly. Michael and Lisa are at the front of the plane. Thomas and I prefer the row behind the wing. It makes for great photos.
All checked in at the resort. I booked a 2-bedroom suite but we received two adjacent, not adjoining rooms instead. We decided to keep the rooms as we now have two bathrooms. Not a big deal since our kids are older. If they were younger, I would have gone back to Guest Services and asked for a room switch. Edited to add: The rooms are indeed part of a 2-bedroom suite. The exterior door closes and is only accessible by key card. The two interior doors can remain open.
A great time is being had by all.

We flew from Chicago Midway to Montego Bay, boarding flight 1042 at gate A11. I had the window most of the flight and watched the wing the whole way, the water turning bright turquoise as we crossed over the reefs near Jamaica.

At Sangster International we found the Amstar transfer desk and rode a bus east along the coast. We drove from Montego Bay to Mammee Bay and reached Hotel Riu Ocho Rios by mid-afternoon, checking in and finding our room down the hall at 1034 and 1035.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool, then walked down to the beach, where Thomas and Lisa climbed out onto a big piece of driftwood and cracked open a coconut. We had dinner at the resort, and that night the resort ran a "RIU Party" with neon lighting and a stage show. Lisa had her face painted with glitter decals for it, and we all stood for a photo in front of a lit-up neon lips backdrop before the show started. We were still out at it past nine thirty.
