The day was spent at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids. Kathy, Lisa and I arrived early in the afternoon and started in the tropical conservatory, walking past the Chihuly glass exhibit and the desert garden before reaching the walk-through aviary, where finches came right down to the feeders.
From there we wandered the indoor galleries, stopping at Rodin's The Kiss and a few of the other bronzes on display, then headed outside to the sculpture park. Outdoors we found a bronze figure built from branches, walked through the Japanese garden with its raked sand, and followed the stream past a small waterfall.
The afternoon ended at the pond, looking down over the bridges and floating lanterns, before a stop in the gift shop on the way out.
