3-Night Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral

Next stop, Mickey boat!

Lisa and I rocked the Aqua Duck already. It was awesome! So much fun and we haven't even left port.

Our stateroom had bunk beds set up for the kids. The pillow on the bed was embroidered, "A dream is a wish your heart makes." We dropped off our bags and went back out to explore before the ship left the dock in the afternoon. A "Sailing Away" screen lit up over the pool deck, and Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto came out to dance while a crowd lined the railings to watch Port Canaveral fall away behind us.

The Disney Dream called at Nassau today. Ashore, we all went to Atlantis Paradise Island with Dan and Kim, where everyone but Thomas took a turn swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Cay. I held Lisa as we took our turn in the lagoon with a dolphin, and the others took their own turns too, close enough to touch its skin and go nose to nose with it.

Back on the ship, the evening was Pirate Night. Dinner at Animator's Palate was pirate themed, plates set with a Mickey design and pirate dress at the table. Mickey, Minnie and Donald all turned out in pirate costume for family portraits, and we also met Captain Hook, Peter Pan and a rotation of other characters, including Princess Tiana.

After dinner the party moved up on deck for the Pirates IN the Caribbean show, Mickey, Goofy and Donald performing under red lights to a packed crowd, before the deck party ran on late into the night.

The Disney Dream called at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the Bahamas. From the ship's deck in the morning we could already see the beach, the palm trees and the water park before we ever set foot on the island.

We walked down the pier past a row of boulders painted like Mickey, Donald and the other characters, and Donald himself was out on the boardwalk to meet us for pictures. Kathy, Lisa, Thomas and I found a spot on the family beach, and the kids spent a long time digging in the sand and wading at the edge of the clear, shallow water.

For lunch we walked over to Cookie's Too BBQ, where the pavilions covered picnic tables set with ribs, barbecue chicken, corn on the cob and coleslaw. Later we went by the water slides and the water play structure near the lagoon, where I could see the Disney Dream anchored just offshore.
